Welcome to the Colquhonnie Hotel's Guest Book
The 2 young guys working the bar and serving breakfasts (which was very good and lovely coffee) could not have been more helpful and were totally charming. Hotel needs a bit of tlc, it\'s in a beautiful location and has heaps of potential, I hope it can become the hotel it deserves to be.

What to say about our weekend at the Colquhonnie? Well, driving up to the hotel didn\'t bode too well as it does need some work on external appearance, and walking in didn\'t really make it much better. Checked in at bar and was shown to room - clean and comfortable but a bit tired, which really sums up the fabric of the hotel although the dining room has been recently upgraded. As we learnt, new owners of less than 6 months are trying to run and upgrade at same time - never easy. Dinner on first evening was a challenge as a blocked pipe had put most of the kitchen out of commission - but chef come owner rattled up a fine bowl of pasta - simple and just was we needed.
Sometimes you have to see beyond the surface though, and this is the case at the Colquhonnie. The staff were great through out, breakfasts and dinner all you could ask for, and sitting in the bar in the evening chatting to staff and locals became very much part of the trip.
Bottom line, it\'s work in progress and it will never be the Ritz, but we would have no hesitation in going back next time we are in the area. Overall, good value for money.

Two Nights Whilst Fishing On The Upper Don
I hadn\'t stayed at the Colquhonnie for a few years as our last visit was not so good. However this has all changed now, the new hosts are warm and welcoming, the breakfast was fab, the evening meal was tasty and filling. Bed rooms very clean, bed comfy and a good nights sleep was had by all. The country side that surrounds the hotel cannot be faulted. All in all a perfect base for a few days trouting on the Upper Don. We will be back!

Our stay at the Colquhonnie House Hotel in Strathdon last weekend was a pleasure. The hotel was warm, a welcoming fire burning in the stove at breakfast, well-heated, very clean ensuite and cheerful, helpful staff. Simple food, well cooked and presented and a skilful chef, eager to please. I can only see this hotel going from strength to strength with its new management and caring, customer friendly policy, in it's delightful location in the heart of Strathdon. Good to know that once again there is a welcome awaiting the traveller in this unique area.
Good luck and hoping for a repeat stay soon.

Sorry about the fishing but glad you enjoyed the food!
Stayed as we always do for the evening of the Lonach ball. The room we had this year was not one we'd had before.
It was a double.Everything was clean and well presented,if a little dated.
Paul has finally, after knocking himself out , employed a new lady who welcomed us on our arrival and showed us our room.We also had breakfast there in the mornng and were up for a last orders at 9.30 a.m

In deepest Aberdeenshire lies the Colquhonnie House Hotel on the road to the Cairngorms. Small and quiet, a rural retreat from the busling city life. My wife and I enjoyed our stay, Paul and staff were very welcoming. Food and the entertainment were excellent. Although room was basic and in need of some upgrading it was clean and comfortable.

Myself and my partner styed recently for one night at the weekend (Grouponing) and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had planned to go fishing, but the weather was terrible so we explored the area and relaxed in the hotel.
It is a very welcoming place and the owner and his dogs are lovely.
The food was fine (breakfast especially) and the staff were exceptionally nice.
Not too much to do around the hotel, but if u are in to the outdoors or just want to get away from everything I would highly recommend it.
It is an old hotel and the rooms could do with some work, but a good value for money stay.

One Night Groupon Break
We spent a pleasant evening, had a nice meal, beautifully prepared and presented. Not a lot of people around, (only 31st March). Spent the evening in the bar. Very pleasant bar staff and mine host very welcoming. Breakfast excellent so we left very pleased with our visit, considering it only cost us £35 for B and B that was for the two of us. Can't be bad !!
The only downside was that nobody had heard of our booking despite me receiving two confirmation e mails from you, something wrong with your system ?? As a result we had to have a small twin room. Had to take turns moving around, not a lot of space. Despite this we enjoyed our stay and may return in the future. A splendid piece of countryside to walk or drive in.

Stunning views and plenty of historic places to visit nearby. Food at the hotel was great. Bathroom needs updating but apparently this is being done in the near future. It is a very old building (250 years old) so don't expect modern fittings although the ground floor tv/dining/bar area is nice. Management and staff are lovely and do everything to please. Missed having a radio and hairdrier in the room and the remote control for the digibox for the tv was missing. We were so lucky that the weather on the 2 days we were there was glorious. A really enjoyable break.

Escape From The City
As a young(ish) couple who work in the city, an escape for a night to a country location was ideal. This was booked through a Groupon offer and we both thoroughly enjoyed our time away. Paul, the proprietor was incredibly welcoming, the food was delicious and the bedroom was basic but we had a great nights sleep. If it is luxury accommodation you are after, then this hotel would perhaps not be to everyones taste, but if it is a peaceful location, a warm welcome and good food that you are after then I highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent Night's Stay
Our arrival at Colquhonnie House was just what we needed after making the mistake of tackling the winding roads after dark and with the fog rolling in.. the owner was extremely friendly and welcoming, with his two very cute little dogs shuffling around our feet as he gave us our keys. The room was clean and warm, dinner was excellent, and there were a couple of very tasty Scottish beers on tap in the bar; the staff were also attentive and friendly. We had a lovely evening, a good night's sleep, a hot shower in the morning, and then a great breakfast to fill us up before setting off to enjoy the countryside nearby. Especially when considering the price (using the groupon voucher), it was nigh-on perfect...

Thoroughly good evening spent in the bar after a delicious meal in the retaurant. We played pool with some of the local folk and enjoyed their company very much. We were made to feel most welcome and wished we lived nearer to make it our "Local". Quaint old fashioned accommodation and very comfortable bed, with very up to date bar area. Staff were superb, Laura particularly. Would highly recommend for people wanting good food and good company.Sunday's breakfast was excellent - my wife cleared her plate which she never does elsewhere. Fantastic value for money. More people should go there ( no - we are not family or friends, we genuinely enjoyed our visit - ask me -firstname.lastname@example.org )

A Pleasant Break
My wife and I stayed in the hotel over 'Hogamany'recently and while it is evident that the bedrooms are 'a work in progress' ours was both clean and comfortable. However, it was over the bar(Room 8)so avoid if you want an early night.
There is a varied menu with an ample selection of wines and whiskies !
Paul and his staff were attentive and pleasant.
Overall, a pleasant break.
